For the Love of Kirkland is a dynamic in-person workshop where your voice matters. Connect with neighbors, share what you love about our city, and explore new ways to create a brighter, more vibrant community.

Your small ideas can make a real impact. Together, we can turn inspiration into action and make Kirkland a place we’re all proud to call home. Plus, to help bring one of the best ideas to life, at least one mini-grant will be available to support a community-driven project.

This year, we’re doing our best to bring new faces into the room so we can build on Kirkland’s legacy of community excellence and appreciation. Whether you’re new to local involvement or a longtime leader, this is a great opportunity to meet, encourage, and welcome fresh voices and perspectives into the conversation.

A Transformative Experience

The Kirkland Community Foundation is excited to host For the Love of Kirkland, a powerful event facilitated by author Peter Kageyama, designed to deepen connections between residents, businesses, leaders, and the place we call home. Drawing inspiration from Peter’s books—For the Love of Cities, Love Where You Live, and The Emotional Infrastructure of Places—this interactive workshop highlights the profound social, health, and economic benefits of fostering a love for our community.

This will be Peter’s second visit to Kirkland. His first, in 2018, sparked incredible resident-led projects, including the Cross Kirkland Corridor Celebration. Now, the Kirkland Community Foundation is reigniting that energy to activate our city’s residents, businesses, and community leaders as co-creators. Together, we’ll think creatively about enhancing Kirkland’s vibrancy, cultivating pride, and building a more engaged, connected community.
