The ballots are still being counted, but one thing stands out — every candidate for City Council stepped up to serve from a place of love for our city. Their individual commitment to this community reminds us that leadership takes many forms, and that caring for Kirkland transcends politics.

At the Kirkland Community Foundation, we’re more than a funder — we’re a neutral convener and community connector. While others work in the realm of policy and politics, we operate at the sidewalk level — where neighbors meet at the coffee shop, chat during school pick-up, and quietly care for one another.

We strive to understand what our community needs, where resources exist, and where the gaps are. Then we bring people together to respond — collectively and compassionately. We champion philanthropy across Kirkland — not just as giving, but as belonging, representation, and care in action.

We are grateful our candidates were willing to stand side by side in support of Ignite Kirkland, our community’s annual giving campaign. Ignite Kirkland is a way for all of us to support local nonprofits and projects that make Kirkland better for the people who live, work, and play here.
